Free Storytelling Guided Walk
01.05.2026.
A new addition to the offer of the City of Krk Tourist Board brings a unique experience of discovering the city through the storytelling tour “Splendidissima Civitas”, taking you through streets where centuries overlap, and every stone preserves stories of an ancient city that still lives in the space around us.
The walk begins at the Seafront Tower, where a Roman stele is embedded in the medieval wall, a silent witness to the time when Krk was an important Roman city. The route then leads to the remains of temples and an altar dedicated to the goddess Venus, where you will discover what people throughout history were willing to sacrifice for love.
Arriving at the main town square, we encounter the inscription “Splendidissima Civitas” – “The Most Splendid City,” a title Krk held in Roman times. You will learn what everyday life looked like for the Romans and who maintained order within the city walls. The walk ends at the remains of the Roman baths, once a place of gathering and socializing, where the Veneralia, festivities dedicated to Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, were celebrated in Roman times.
