International Skål Award Comes to Krk Island

The Eco Island Krk Project Wins International Recognition at the Skål International Sustainable Tourism Awards

The Tourist Board of the Island of Krk and Eco Island Krk proudly announce that the Eco Island Krk project has been awarded international recognition at the Skål International Sustainable Tourism Awards. The award was presented on September 26, 2025, in Cusco, Peru, during the Skål International World Congress.

This recognition is granted to outstanding tourism projects that promote sustainable development through their activities and serve as examples of best practices worldwide. This year, 106 applications from 30 countries were submitted, demonstrating the growing global commitment to sustainable tourism. Among the winners is the Eco Island Krk project, recognized as a leader in implementing sustainable solutions and protecting the environment.

The Skål Club Kvarner was founded in 2010 in Opatija and is part of the international tourism association Skål International, which brings together nearly 14,000 members in more than 100 countries. Its mission is to enhance the development of tourism through international cooperation, the exchange of experiences, and the promotion of sustainable practices. Each year, Skål International highlights projects that contribute to environmental preservation and the sustainable development of the tourism industry.

The Tourist Board of the Island of Krk is a proud member of Skål International and a long-standing partner of Eco Island Krk. Through joint programs, they continuously collaborate on preserving the environment, improving the tourism offer, and developing sustainable initiatives that make the Island a recognized example of responsible and sustainable tourism.

The award received by Eco Island Krk not only confirms the value of the work invested but also shows the direction in which the tourism of the Krk Island aims to go – a form of tourism that respects the environment, the community, and future generations.
