The City of Krk and the Island of Krk Once Again Successfully Hosted a Top-Tier Sporting Spectacle

The Island of Krk once again played a significant role in the CRO Race 2025, providing a stunning backdrop for the fourth stage. The world’s top cyclists started from the City of Krk, rode through the Island’s scenic roads, and continued toward the finish line in Labin on a challenging 190.5-kilometer route.
The stage start took place in the City of Krk, where the gathered crowd was greeted by the Mayor of Krk, Darijo Vasilić, the Director of the City of Krk Tourist Board, Ivana Kovačić, the Director of the Island of Krk Tourist Board, Majda Šale, and the representative of the Kvarner County Tourist Board, Vlasta Mastrović. Among the distinguished guests in the audience were the Director of the Tourist Board of the Municipality Omišalj, Andrea Orlić Čutul, the Director of the Tourist Board of the Municipality Vrbnik, Nino Čutul, the Director of the Tourist Board of the Municipality Baška, Ivana Topić, the Director of the Punat Tourist Board, Branko Karabaić, and members of the Krk City Tourist Council, Milan Žužić and Damir Balenović. A special sporting charm was added to the start by the presence of Martin Sinković, a multiple Olympic, World, and European rowing champion, who supported the competitors and followed the stage start from the City of Krk.
Brandon McNulty (UAE Emirates) secured a convincing victory with a 1:40-minute lead over Edoardo Zambanini (Bahrain Victorious) and Michał Kwiatkowski (INEOS Grenadiers). In addition to McNulty, the winners in other categories were: Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step) – best sprinter, Casper van der Woude (Metec-Solarwatt p/b Mantel) – best climber, and Jakob Omrzel (Bahrain Victorious) – best young rider.
This year’s milestone edition of the CRO Race, held from September 30 to October 5, covered nearly 1,000 kilometers across six stages throughout Croatia. The race featured 20 teams from all three categories of the World Cycling Organization (UCI), with television broadcasts on HRT and Eurosport, as well as signal transmission to 190 countries worldwide, ensuring exceptional global visibility for Croatia, the Kvarner County, and the Island of Krk.
Local partners played a significant role in the realization of the project. Partners of the CRO Race 2025 project included: the City of Krk Tourist Board and the City of Krk, the Municipality of Malinska – Dubašnica Tourist Board, Dobrinj Municipality Tourist Board, Tourist Board of the Municipality Omišalj, Punat Tourist Board, the Tourist Board of the Municipality Baška, the Tourist Board of the Municipality Vrbnik, the Island of Krk Tourist Board, and the Kvarner County Tourist Board.
Another unforgettable day of top-tier cycling on the Island of Krk demonstrated how the synergy of sports and tourism significantly contributes to the global promotion of the island and the region.
